Selecting longest line between two polygons

Hello

I wonder if someone can help me please.

I have two feature classes. One containing polygons and one containing lines. I need to be able to select two polygons at a time and then identify the longest line which connects these two polygons. None of the options in Select Layer by Location seem to allow me to do this. Is it possible?
